What Love Tastes Like

To say we cook a lot is an understatement. We are always cooking something. My wonderful husband loves to cook. When he is off from work he will cook. It isn't often that we eat the same meal twice in a month. Lately with hubby being on leave, we have had a different meal nearly every day for the last week. What a blessing for sure!

I do the baking. It is something that I build myself up to. I like to bake. I like to bake on my own terms even more. I love to share what I bake. I mostly bake for the kids. Not cookies, but sweet breads and muffins. It makes my heart swell with happiness to see them loving home made treats over store bought treats.

But not everything I cook is a success. Recently with surgery looming only days away, I made a spinach dip. Fresh out of the oven my daughter and I sat down and began munching away. The next morning as I am preparing breakfast, I find the spinach.

My peanut butter brownies were yummy, but not the popular, devour me now kind of hit I thought they would be.

The buttermilk muffins were an instant hit. I made them on a Thursday and then again on a Tuesday. They are all gone.

Now my husband loves to recreate recipes he sees in restaurants or on television. We had recently eaten at this place that had an amazing Torta so my husband sought to recreate it. He did, and did it much better.

One Week

I Thank you Lord for all that I have,
for the amazing husband who has taken such great care of the kids and I.

Not just this last week, but for the last six years.

My surgery went well. It all worked out. Hubby was home the night before. Even with the much earlier time of surgery, we were able to get childcare for both kids.

So at 5:30 we are at the hospital, him a little nervous, me just ready to move forward.
 And move forward we did.

Pain, yes some, but not so much it wasn't manageable.
Sleep was good, and hubby was able to come back and visit me in the evening. This gave me time to rest after surgery, and time to sleep at night.

When at home, I was so happy to see my daughter. To take a shower in my own home. And to see my son when he got off the bus. A little nap, and I even squeezed in some of my school work.

Hubby has been running the show. It's been a good run. He even mopped the floors twice! So many yummy meals when he is home. What a true blessing to be married to a man that loves to cook.

I've gotten a lot of school work. Watched some movies with hubby. Spent excellent quality time with the family. With the near future looming, this is exactly what we needed.

On the mend and hubby will be returning to work soon.

I am now using no pain meds. I have been pain med free since Saturday. A roller ball bottle with marjoram and frankincense has done the trick.

Hubby has begun asking for the oils, the diffuser. Things are looking up there. Considering a small break and resuming once things even out.

Remember to embrace every moment given to you by God. They can be few, or they can be many. Put God first and let him be your guide.
